I was very excited to blog about Melissa & Tim's wedding. I started following Melissa's photography blog and seeing her great photos and also followed her on Twitter. I enjoy reading her tweets and little did I know just how much she loves Twitter!
If you've been reading my posts, you know that I love all kinds of escort cards! These totally adorable cards, made by Melissa's mother, were in their wedding colors of chocolate brown and pink and incorporating the theme of photography and cherry blossoms! The inside of the cards revealed the table names which were camera brands. The guest sign-in book was appropriately a photo book of their engagement photos. See their beautiful photos on the Ohana Photography blog.
The ceremony and reception were held at Ocean View Villas between Point Loma & Ocean Beach. Melissa told me she wanted to have it at a place on the beach, where she could have the ceremony and reception and where her friends and family could stay. That's the bride's cousin Paul above who played cool tunes like "Hotel California" during the cocktail reception.
Melissa looked absolutely beautiful with her vintage glam look! The bride's funky shoes went perfectly with her non-traditional look. Tim, his groomsmen and all the bridemaids all wore brown flip-flops! I loved how all the bouquets were pink but each one was different. Melissa Barrad from I Do. . . Weddings not only put this lovely wedding together, but secured these peonies, (in January) the bride's favorite flower! The bride's aunt with Melissa's help did the bouquets. As a photographer herself, Melissa had to get a few of her own shots in! Tim escorted Kirsten, the officiant and one of Melissa's best friends, down the aisle. Kirsten and Melissa met in college and by request of the bride and groom performed the ceremony! The wedding party walked in to The Beatles: "With a Little Help From My Friends" and exited to Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours."
The ceremony was very intimate with the chairs arced around the bridal party. Just before the ceremony started, Kirsten told the guests that their participation was welcomed and encouraged and reassured everyone that the ceremony would be over before the kick off of the Chargers game! :) During a reading, Melissa, Tim and the bridal party turned around and faced all the guests. Tim read his vows from a paper, but Melissa made it modern, by reading it off her LG enV. Then taking social media to a whole new level, the bride tweeted during the ceremony! The ceremony ended with all guests rising and as a group, pronouncing Melissa & Tim husband and wife.
Keep your eyes peeled for other blog posts on this unique wedding. Melissa (the bride) and Melissa (the planner) have their own blogs and I'm sure you will see some amazing shots on some upcoming photography blogs. It was as if cameras were the latest new accessory at the wedding! I've already seen one post on Melissa Koehler's blog.
Great things happened this day. . . Tim & Melissa got married, had a great wedding (for an amazing $10,000) with no rain, and the Chargers beat the Colts!
